Slipknot - Duality: From these video I picked up a variety of the basic conventions in music videos, this include the shot types and variation which is key in making an engaging video. Also the pace of editing keeping in fitting with the song and which part of the song it's on.
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - By The Way: In this video lighting as well as performance footage played a major part. As well as the use of hand held camera work which gives the video as sense of realism. I found the linking of narrative and performance is also important to a good video.
Ok Go - Needing/Getting: This was a great example of a concept video with a great idea. It shows the importance of building up a viral reputation for good music videos. Ok Go have a track record of making fun concept video like this and shows the importance of having a strong music video.
Foo Fighters - Learn To Fly: This video demonstrated the use of humour in a video as well as using a variety of characters to keep interest. The video used some nice effects as well as editing techniques and implemented performance footage nicely.
Whetus - Teenage Dirtbag: This video uses narrative development and performance footage together. The video also is a tie in with a film which shows the cross platform diversity of music videos.
